Why Develop When You Can Pander?

As Bluesky has becoming the new online safe haven for liberals and pedophiles, so has the garbage takes of a group of people who would gladly sacrifice passionate development for pandering.

As X user @Grummz shared from a Bluesky post, an art director from Obsidian Entertainment lets his true feelings show:

“Too many crusty white dudes” is a heck of a take from a white dude in the industry he is railing against. We’ve officially reached the point where, in a truly valiant effort to white knight, a developer is making claims that people with the same skin color has him should not have opportunities in his field.

Here’s the reality — and I’m not pulling punches.

This sad human believes this for one of two reasons:

  1. He has been brain washed into believing nonsense and lies

  2. He wants to erase the demographic from an industry that is most likely to take his job and do it better.

The ploy of “please let me help you replace me one day” is an amazing amount of gaslighting nonsense. I think anyone with with a modicum of common sense can see that if he really believed that statement then he could just go….do that.

However, when you create a culture of wooden-nickel-thinking and mix that with the lowest common denominator, this is what you should expect. I’m getting sick of pretending that this kind of behavior from a grown adult is normal and should be expected.

You’re here to be a cog in the wheel of video game development. Your so-called “art” is supposed to be a reason for people to come in and enjoy the product they paid money for, all for the intent of getting lost in the world you created. Instead, you have taken a created world, and acted like that is what real life is supposed to be about. Then, as the cherry on top of this diverse sundae, you choose to get the point across by sheer pandering and resentment rather than actual passionate influence.

Game development is pandering now. It is not about the ‘thing’ or the game or the passion. It’s about resentment and hatred. Nothing more.
